A Halloween to remember at children's hospital

Rochester, N.Y. Golisano Childrens Hospital provided a Halloween to remember for the children from the hospital.

Makayla Dilano, 3, traveled from Utica to the the hospital for open heart surgery. Her mom told 13HWHAM News that Dilano would have had to miss Halloween had it not been for the hospitals staff.

This hospital is amazing to be able to give them a holiday, said Angela Jackson. It almost doesn't feel like [Makayla] is in the hospital.

The hospital brings Halloween to the kids with a parade and trick-or-treating.

According to Wendy Lane, an employee at Golisanos Children Hospital, celebrating Halloween is a tradition that has been around for 50 years.

This is an opportunity to get their minds off of all the medical intervention that has to happen to them, said Lane. And that's the whole concept to bring a little bit of child friendly joy into their day.
