Agricultural commissioner gets new job

Albany, N.Y. (AP) - New York State Agriculture Commissioner Darrel Aubertine, who announced his resignation last week, is joining the staff of the state comptroller.
The northern New York farmer and former state legislator served three years in the Cuomo administration, drawing a salary of about $106,000.
Republican Patty Ritchie beat Aubertine in 2010 with 52 percent of the vote in the state Senate district that included Oswego, Jefferson and St. Lawrence counties.
Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli says he has appointed Aubertine as a special assistant for external affairs, responsible for policy initiatives and special projects related to agriculture, economic development, affordable housing, education and local fiscal stress.
His new salary is $135,000.
