Man allegedly held child while trying to punch deputy

Williamson, N.Y. A Wayne County man is facing several charges after he allegedly tried to punch a sheriffs deputy while being placed under arrest.

Wayne County Sheriffs deputies said that they were attempting to arrest Matthew Hellaby as part of a domestic incident investigation on October 1, during which he allegedly choked a family member.

Deputies said that Hellaby became combative as they were trying to arrest him. He allegedly attempted to punch a deputy while holding his three-year-old son, but was taken into custody after a brief struggle.

Hellaby was arraigned in Williamson Town Court and remanded to Wayne County Jail.
