Maximum sentence for man who drove high, hit & killed child
Rochester, N.Y. - The Rochester man who hit and killed a child with his SUV in 2011 received the maximum sentence for his crimes Friday morning.
James Bradley was sentenced to 1 1/3 to four years in prison after being found guilty of criminally negligent homicide and 3rd-degree assault.
Bradley lost control of his car and hit two children on a Rochester playground. Seven-year-old Sahmir Williams died and another child was injured.
Sahimir's mom, Layla Frasier, was present at Bradley's sentencing.
"I know he's sorry, I just don't know why he's sorry," said Frasier. "I don't know if he's sorry because he killed Sahmir and injured Kaili, or if he's sorry because he's going to jail?"
Bradley suffered two seizures the week before the crash. He was found not guilty of manslaughter and driving while impaired by marijuana.
