Time Warner Cable ups internet speed of fastest product

Los Angeles - (AP) It isn't exactly a speed war. But some of the big companies that provide Internet service are putting more customers in the fast lane.

Time Warner Cable Inc. is doubling the Internet speed of its fastest product while cutting by more than half the price of its lowest-speed product.

Time Warner is the nation's second-largest cable TV provider. The efforts are aimed at competing with its rival ISPs AT&T and Verizon.

Time Warner has doubled the download speed of its top-tier "Ultimate" service to 100 megabits per second. That service costs $105 a month, without promotional pricing.
