A Shark Tank star visits RIT

Henrietta, N.Y. - Daymond John of the ABC show Shark Tank was at RIT sharing his path to success and advice to entrepreneurs and to students of Saunders College of Business, Friday.

Daymond Johns career launched when he founded the clothing line FUBU.

I really thought his was inspirational because he was trying to make money for his family and that's one of my main mottos is family comes first, said Jeff Waslin a freshman at RIT and fellow entrepreneur.

Speaking at RIT was fitting for John since he believes education is a key to success.

"If you dont have the knowledge on how to educate yourself and what to do with the money and how to diversify your portfolio or what not to do, youre going to end up like athletes, ball players people that have massive amount of income and massive amount of opportunity but because their lack of financial intelligence and their lack of formal education they ended up where they started, said Daymond John.

I love that he said it takes just as much energy for you to think about a small goal as it does a big goal so why not go bigger, said fellow entrepreneur and Shark Tank fan Michelle Roberts. Roberts, who owns two companies - Messenger Birds and Novus Creative - came Friday night to learn what she could from a shark.

You just have to be persistent, incredibly persistent, and believe in what you do and love it," said Roberts.

Love what you do, were words echoed by Daymond John.

You can work something for money for one year and you will be miserable, and you can do something you love for 20 years and youll be happy, said Daymond John.
