Grey's Anatomy story based on URMC case
Rochester, N.Y. - The Thursday night episode of popular medical show on ABC featured a storyline based on a local medical mystery.
The unusual story was picked up by the writers of "Grey's Anatomy."
Three years ago, Jaime Arliss of Clyde had a very rare and dangerous tumor of blood vessels in her heart called an AVM.
Doctors could not find a treatment.
Most people her age with the condition have died.
Doctors took a chance on a new medical "super glue."
Sure enough Arliss's tumor shrunk.
"I think about it being extraordinary, she said. But I'm just happy to be alive. I'm glad that I'm still here and the roller coaster is over now. It's nice to be off that ride."
Arliss said she watched the show last night.
