Police investigate deadly shooting in Brighton

Brighton, N.Y. -- Two men are dead after a shooting in Brighton Sunday.

At 4:00 p.m., the Brighton Police Department responded to the Elmwood Court Apartments for the report of a disturbance.

When officers arrived, they found a 30-year-old man dead with a gunshot wound.

Additionally, police found a 29-year-old man still alive with what is preliminary being investigated as a self-inflicted gunshot wound. That man was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital where he soon died.

"It is a rare occurrence, something like this. We did hear from a number of neighbors how alarmed they were, you got a number of calls and talked to some neighbors on the scene who described what they heard. To say i'ts a rare occurrence in the town of Brighton would be an understatement," said Brighton Police Chief Mark Henderson.

No names have been released, and police are not searching for suspects.

The investigation is ongoing.
