Arrest made in Wyoming Co. copper theft

Orangeville, N.Y. - An Alexander man has been charged with a recent copper theft in the Town of Orangeville.

The Wyoming County Sheriffs Office said Todd Arnold, 44, has been charged with Grand Larceny following an investigation into copper theft at Wind Mill Power Station.

Arnold allegedly assisted in stealing roughly $20,000 worth of copper from the power station.

The copper weighed about 4,000 pounds and was stolen in three separate attempts in June and August.

Authorities said the copper was stolen from large wooden spools.

Arnold is currently in Genesee County Jail on unrelated charges and was re-committed to jail on an additional $150,000 bail. He is scheduled to appear in Orangeville Court at a later date.
