GM plant near Buffalo sees growth

Tonawanda, N.Y. - General Motors has had a long standing tradition here in western New York. While over the years the company has downsized, one plant in Tonawanda - near Buffalo - has seen resurgence.

At this 3 million square foot GM engine factory in Tonawanda - there are sounds of life and growth.

Right now we are up over 1800 employees. Weve trained over 1200 employees in the last year and a half, said Dan Struebel.

During the recession and at its lowest point in 2008 - the factory was down to just 650 employees, and GMs future was uncertain. But this factory has bounced back.

The plant is equipped with state of the art robots and lasers - more than 825 million dollars have been invested into the factory and the engines made here in western New York are used everywhere.
