Wegmans, Teamsters announce deal

Rochester, N.Y. The Teamsters Local 118 union announced Friday it reached a collective bargaining agreement with Wegmans, ending nine months of negotiations.

The two sides agreed to a deal first proposed Oct. 12 late Thursday night, after the union had rejected an offer last month.

The deal includes a plan to withdraw members from the state Teamsters fund and enroll them in the Wegmans retirement plan.

Teamsters members ratified the contract by a 624-62 vote.

We went toe to toe with Wegmans and went through every sentence of our collective bargaining agreement, said Kevin McIntosh, business agent of Local 118 and the lead negotiator, in a statement. We took it to the wire and got everything we could for our members.
