Eldersource warns about possible scam

Rochester, N.Y. - Eldersource, a service working with seniors in the Rochester area, said Wednesday some people may be trying to use the organization's name as a scam.

A 72-year-old woman called Eldersource this morning and said she had been called by an individual speaking in broken English. That individual identified themselves as a worker with Eldersource and offered to help with grocery shopping if the woman gave them her credit card.

The potential victim hung up and called Eldersource to report the scam.

Eldersource said it never calls clients to obtain credit card information.

If anyone receives a call like this from Eldersource, they should hang up and report the call to Eldersource at (585) 325-2800.
