Bitter cold arrives

Rochester, N.Y. - A wintery storm is making its way east across the country.

The storm is being blamed for a number of deaths already, most in car accidents.

In New Mexico, it dumped a foot and a half of snow. In Amarillo Texas, drivers spun through about five inches of snow.

The storm's next stop is expected to be Dallas, Texas where crews are busily de-icing planes and prepping runways.

Dozens of flights are already behind schedule or canceled.

"It's kind of a bummer. Of all states, Texas! The weather is insane, said traveler Whitney Lascola, whose flight was delayed. I didn't think Texas would have snowstorms."

"This is not Texas weather, man, Said driver Ron Taylor. This is Alaska or Idaho or something.

Meteorologists say this system, now headed eastward, could bring snow, ice and a lot of rain by Wednesday. They say it could snarl Thanksgiving travel across the country.

A Winter Storm Watch will be in effect in our area Tuesday evening through Wednesday evening.
