Husband of County Exec speaks out about LDC probe

Rochester, NY -- Just a day after four indictments in a major county corruption investigation, both sides are speaking out publicly.

County Legislature Minority Leader Carrie Andrews (D-Rochester) held a press conference at 1:30pm Thursday, to discuss the County Executive Maggie Brooks' press conference Wednesday night.

Andrews called for Brooks to step aside from the Countys internal review.

If the County Executive truly cares about taxpayers, she must recuse herself from the internal investigation of corruption involving LDCs and turn everything over to the County Legislature," Andrews said. "Something has clearly gone terribly wrong in this government and it is obvious that the Executive can no longer overseeor have any involvement inthis internal investigation."

Meanwhile, Brooks' husband, Bob Wiesner, held a press conference at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, to address charges brought by the Attorney Generals Office.

Wiesner's attorney said the charges filed against his client were politically motivated.

"In my 30 years in law enforecment, I have never treated a defendant as I was treated yesterday," Wiesner said. "It was a blatant and calculated act by the attorney General's Office to embarrass me, embarrass my wife, and prejudice the case."
