Rochesterians get the Blockbuster blues

Rochester, N.Y. - To many, VHS tapes sound like antiques, and with the internet and Netflix, even Blockbuster Video seems like a thing of the past.

After Sunday, it will be.

The movie rental company is closing all of its 300 remaining stores in the country, including the three left in the Rochester area.

Saturday is the last day to rent before the stores actually close Sunday.

"I work at the Rite Aid across the street and I always see everybody coming in from Blockbuster carrying their videos and then they get snacks," said Roza Eisenman, a city resident. "It's like a neighborhood store."

"I don't know what the neighborhood's gonna do without them," wondered Karen Mitre. "It was their go-to place, my go-to place."

Though the stores are closing Sunday, there will be a reopening Nov. 15 for a giant sale.
