Snow impacting landscaping businesses
Rochester, N.Y. The snowy weather conditions are the kind that many landscapers have prepared for since late summer. The timing of this particular storm, however, is giving one local business a reason to hustle.
With 150 commercial and residential customers, Richard Thomas, owner of Thomas Garden Center and Landscape in Webster, says hes ready for the storm.
We start around Labor Day getting plow services, getting the route set up, sending out renewal contracts, making sure the salt is in place, said Richard Thomas.
Thomas has also spend the last few days taking on last minute clients. He says hes taken dozens of calls of people wanting plowing services.
Most contracts are full now. Weve had to turn away a lot of people, Thomas said.
The storm is also impacting Thomas Garden Center as they prepare orders for the holidays.
Workers are putting a rush on many orders, getting them out the door before the roads get back.
Thomas says his crew has spent much of the day tying up loose ends, bringing in Christmas trees to prevent them from getting buried in the snow.
It will hinder some of the flower shop, the trees, the wreaths, and just hold them back. But by Friday, well be back to normal, like Rochester is, Thomas said.
