Man shows up to RGH with gunshot wound

Rochester, NY -- Rochester Police are investigating shooting after a man showed up to the hospital with a gunshot wound.

Police say they responded to the 400 block of Lyell Avenue for multiple calls of shots fired, but only found a loaded handgun. A short time later, the victim, 35-year-old Barry Whitaker, walked into Rochester General Hospital with a gunshot would to his chest.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the victim was standing on Lyell Ave. when the suspects emerged from a side street and began shooting.

The investigation is on-going and no one has been charged at this time.
