Local woman hosts early Thanksgiving meal

Rochester, N.Y.- Hundreds of people got an early Thanksgiving meal Monday, all thanks to a local woman.

Rosa Wims, 85, of Rochester, hosted her pre-Thanksgiving meal at the Montgomery Neighborhood Center Monday. A number of volunteers and Foodlink workers helped prepare the meal for roughly 500 people in need. Its something Wims has done for the past 28 years.

"For years I've worked in the community and I've done this, said Wims. It just grew from a little one room store front to where it is now."

Affectionately known as "Mother Wims," she was the Founder and former Executive Director of the Faith Community Health Awareness, where she spearheaded health education and screening programs, as well as tutoring and the distribution of food and clothing to those in need.
