Sandra Arena denied parole

Rochester, N.Y.- The Penfield woman convicted of manslaughter after running her car into a crowd of people outside of a Rochester bar has been denied parole.

Sandra Arena struck and killed Chad Coleman, 22, outside Nasty Ds bar in 2008.

She was sentenced to five to fifteen years in state prison.

Arena was eligible for parole, but the board told her, After a personal interview, record review and deliberation, it is the determination of this panel that, if released at this time, there is a reasonable probability that you would not live at liberty without again violating the law; your release is incompatible with the welfare and safety of the community.

The board did acknowledge her personal statement and good disciplinary record in prison, but said the crime was senseless and the panel questions her judgment and disregard for the law.
