Power outage closes Holley schools early

Holley, N.Y.- Students in the Holley Central School District were dismissed from school early Friday because the campus lost electricity after a nearby traffic accident.

Police in Orleans County said around 8:00 a.m. Richard Breslawski, 23, was operating an 18-wheel tractor trailer and was exiting westbound State Route 31 onto Fancher Road when he lost control of the rig.

Police said the truck jack-knifed striking several parked cars at A&M Transmission Service before shearing off a National Grid utility pole.

Breslawski was not hurt.

The Holley Central School District dismissed students at the Middle School/High School at 10:33 a.m.

Morning Pre-K students will be dismissed at the regular time.

Elementary School students, including Kindergarten, were dismissed at 11:33 a.m.

Afternoon Pre-K is cancelled and all after school and evening activities are cancelled.

Police said unsafe speed is a probable factor in the crash.
