Scabies cases reported in Rochester

Rochester, N.Y. - Rochester General Hospital is treating patients after several cases of scabies.

The hospital said it had four confirmed cases and 16 other suspected cases of the skin disease. It can lead to itching and rashes.

A patient who had scabies before being admitted to the hospital exposed other patients and staff to the disease.

The state health department issued a scabies advisory to all western New York hospitals.

Rochester General Hospital is monitoring affected patients.
