A new player in the Wegmans negotiations

Rochester, N.Y. - After negotians resumed Tuesday with the use of a federal mediator,

Discussions between the Teamsters Local 118 and Wegmans resumed Tuesday, with the use of a federal mediator. The mediator, from the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service, was stopped from overseeing talks by the 16 day government shut down.

The talks today come after the Teamsters rejection of a settlement proposed during meetings last week, where union members expressed troubled feelings over contract language.

We want to find a deal that Wegmans members believe is fair and reasonable, a deal that recognizes their commitment to this company over decades, Kevin McIntosh, Teamsters Local 118 business agent said in a statement.

We believe finding common ground and getting an agreement is possible.

The Teamsters Local 118 represents more than 900 Wegmans warehouse workers, drivers, and skilled tradesmen. The union has been in negotiations since March, and are expected to hold a vote on Thursday.
