MCC alumni give $2.25 million to college

Rochester, N.Y. -- A New Jersey couple gave MCC the biggest gift the community college has ever seen.

Robin and Timothy Wentworth, MCC alumni, gave a $2.25 million gift Thursday.

The money will provide full scholarships to 40 MCC students each year.

The couple, originally from Rochester were the first in their families to attend college.

Timothy Wentworth attended MCC in 1978 with the help of a full scholarship from Eastman Kodak. He transferred to Cornell University following his education at MCC and went on to succeed in the pharmaceutical industry.

MCC was our chance, said Wentworth. Our chance to transfer to a four-year school. Our chance to have a career.

The couple hopes the Wentworth Family Scholarship program empowers students who can someday help others in a similar fashion.
