Man brings loaded gun to Syracuse airport

Syracuse, N.Y. - A man from Madison County was stopped by TSA officers at Syracuse Hancock airport early Wednesday morning after he was found carrying a loaded handgun in his carry-on bag.

TSA contacted the Syracuse Police who were staffing the checkpoint area and confiscated the weapon, which was loaded with six rounds.

The man, a resident of Chittenango, was allowed to fly to Albuquerque minus the gun.

There was no impact to airport operations.

As a reminder, weapons, including firearms, are not permitted in carry-on baggage.
