Gift boxes help veterans give back

Rochester, N.Y. A local group is helping wounded warriors give back to their families during the holiday season.

More than 150 University of Rochester students helped the nonprofit organization Full Circle Home wrap gift boxes for military families Sunday.

The group has sent about 10,000 boxes since its inception in 2007 and wrapped 5,000 more Sunday.

The boxes will be sent to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Md., for injured troops to give to their moms or spouses.

They say more than anything they want their families taken care of and provided for and remembered at the holidays, said Lisa Miller, director of Full Circle Home. They're on bases far from a store, so it's a wonderful way to empower them to give them the opportunity to write a card and send it home to the person they love.
