Finger Lakes gaming expansion

Farmington, N.Y. - More machines, a sparkling new restaurant and lounge, Finger Lakes Gaming and Racetrack has transformed.

Theres an immediate wow factor to the facility, you come in, you have the gaming right thereour new section is front and center, said Steve Martin, Director of Marketing for Finger Lakes Gaming and Racetrack.

The $12 million added 350 new gaming machines, Wolfgang Puck Express and a bar called Remedy, as well as 79 permanent jobs, according to a track spokesperson.

On Tuesday, voters throughout the state will get to choose whether they want to allow for up to seven new casinos in New York. Martin said he believes the expansion will better position Finger Lakes to become a full-fledged casino at some point, but that was not the motivation behind this expansion, said Martin.

The Seneca Nation of Indians has exclusive rights for gaming in the Rochester area. Even if voters were to pass the referendum, the gaming compact runs for another three years and has a seven year extension built into the deal, according to the State Gaming Commission.
