Soldiers grateful to return home for holidays

Chili, N.Y. -- The New York State Armory hosted a big homecoming for the holidays Saturday.

More than 100 soldiers from the New York Army National Guard 222nd Military Police Company returned home following training at Camp Shelby in Hattiesburg, Miss.

The soldiers recently completed a mission in Qatar. Families were surprised to learn they would return home for the holidays.

They were expected to come home later in January.

Its the best present ever, said Cass Moon, whose son was among the soldiers returning. Its amazing to have him back here, safe, sound.

Its probably the greatest feeling ever imaginable, said Sgt. John Myers, one of the returning soldiers. Sitting in the desert, then coming home to this cold weather Wow! What a relief.
