Wegmans wants to expand Perinton store

Perinton, N.Y.- Wegmans wants to expand its Perinton store.

The grocery chain is seeking a special use permit from the town to expand the store on Pittsford-Palmyra Road near Mosley Road.

Plans call for a 31,300 square foot expansion on the east side of the current store, along with a complete remodel of the existing store, including a new faade and a clock tower.

Once complete, the store will be 122,000 square feet and will include all of the amenities seen in Wegmans newest stores.

Wegmans original Perinton store opened in 1967 in a different location.

Wegmans stressed that additional municipal approvals, including site plan approval, will be needed before the project can go forward.

No word yet on a timeline for the project.

A public hearing is scheduled for December 11 at 7:00 pm at the Perinton Town Hall.
