Cayuga county stabbing

Fleming, N.Y. The Cayuga County Sheriffs Office responded to a stabbing call on Lakeview Drive in the Town of Fleming around 11 p.m. Monday.

The victim, John Welsh, 41, was found unresponsive, investigators said.

Welsh was transported to Auburn Community Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

According to sheriffs deputies, the preliminary investigation showed Logan Jones, 18, as the suspect who fled the scene possibly armed with a knife.

Jones is Welshs stepson.

New York State Police, Auburn Police Department, and Cayuga County Sheriffs Office officials began a search for Jones, which ended in State Troopers taking Jones into custody, according to investigators.

Jones has been charged with murder in the second degree, and was arraigned at the Town of Fleming Court, and remanded to Cayuga County Jail.

The incident is still under investigation, and the murder weapon has not been recovered.
