Third Buffalo employee admits to stealing from meters
Buffalo, N.Y. (AP) - A former municipal employee in Buffalo has pleaded guilty to stealing $9,000 from city parking meters over several years.
Francis Tronolone is the third city worker to be convicted of pocketing coins from meters he was supposed to maintain.
The U.S. Attorney's Office says he faces up to 10 years in prison after pleading guilty Friday in federal court.
Tronolone worked as a coin collector and parking meter mechanic in Buffalo's Parking Enforcement Department. Prosecutors say he kept a cooler in the back of his vehicle to stash stolen coins.
Earlier this year, James Bagarozzo was sentenced to 30 months in prison for stealing more than $200,000 in coins. Another employee, Lawrence Charles, received a six-month sentence for stealing $10,000.
