Legislation speeding up West Webster donations

A measure has been passed in Congress that will help families of victims of the West Webster shooting access donations much faster.

Donations poured in following the Christmas Eve tragedy, but due to an IRS restriction, a lengthy process prevents victims and their families from utilizing the money right away.

On Thursday, legislation sponsored by Senator Charles Schumer was passed by the U.S. Senate which will speed the process up.

Congresswoman Louise Slaughter is sponsoring corresponding "fast track" legislation in the House of Representatives.

Following expected House passage, the bill will move more swiftly to the President for his signature.
