Marketplace Mall tax break meeting scheduled for Monday

Henrietta, N.Y. -- The public weighed in on proposed tax breaks for Marketplace Mall at a meeting Monday morning.

Mall owner Wilmorite's proposal would include 1 percent increases on its payments each year for 25 years.

Rush-Henrietta's school superintendent has already voiced concerns with the plan.

Wilmorite said the tax breaks are necessary for it to demolish the old Bon-Ton store and upgrade the space with specialty retail and restaurants. However, Monday, the company says the proposal could be adjusted to move the project forward.

COMIDA will vote on the proposal Tuesday.
