Rochester model railroad on display

Rochester, N.Y. -- Local families were all aboard a historic train room Saturday.

The room opened at the Edgerton Community Center in 1950, featuring a large model railroad. The railroad is set in Rochester and depicts all four seasons.

Free tours are available on the last Saturday of every month from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m.

The room has been open for special holiday hours during the last week, and will be open again Monday and Tuesday.

Lee Wood, the model railroads curator, said its a popular Christmastime exhibit that brings out the kid in everyone who visits it

.Kids today are still fascinated by the trains, he said. When you get to see the toys like we have in here, they really enjoy coming down and seeing these running, and it kind of relates to what they see running on the rail tracks today.
