NY football fan pleads not guilty in stadium fall

Orchard Park, N.Y. (AP) - A football fan who slid down a stadium railing during a Buffalo Bills game and fell into the stands below has pleaded not guilty to criminal charges.

Rob Hopkins was arraigned in Orchard Park Town Court on Tuesday.

The 29-year-old faces misdemeanor charges of assault and reckless endangerment following the Nov. 17 fall, which was captured on video. Hopkins is seen sliding down a 300-level railing at Ralph Wilson Stadium and then toppling backward and falling about 30 feet into the 200 section. Authorities say he landed on another fan.

Both men were taken to a hospital and later released after treatment.

Hopkins lawyer says his client has apologized for what he called a simple accident. Hopkins was released without bail. He's due back in court on Jan. 28.
