NFL blackout rule could be reversed

Washington - The FCC is moving forward with a proposal to eliminate its Blackout Rule, which is potentially good news for sports fans.

The rule was put in place decades ago to ensure that broadcasts of sports games did not interfere with ticket sales.

However, many argue the rule is outdated.

The FCC will now seek public comment.
Even if the rule is dropped, professional sports leagues and the media could still negotiate their own blackout agreements.

The Bills last home game against Miami Sunday, Dec. 22, will still be blacked out.
