World mourns Mandela

South Africans have entered a period of mourning as they remember Nelson Mandela.

Mandela died Thursday at age 95 after a long illness.
Mourners sang in memory outside the home where Mandela died

Candles and signs with Mandela's nickname "Tata Madiba" adorn his home.

Flags in South Africa and at the White House are being flown at half-staff.

At a Hanukkah event Thursday night, President Obama took a moment to acknowledge the man the world lost calling him "A moral giant who embodied the dignity and the courage and the hope, and sought to bring about justice not only in South Africa, butto inspire millions of people around the world."

Tributes are showing up around the world.

In New York City the sign outside the Apollo Theater reads "In Memory of Nelson Mandela - He Changed Our World"

At the U.N. a moment of silence was held for the late leader.

The gesture was repeated at Thursday night's Bulls-Heat game.
