Visiting the West Webster Memorial

Webster, N.Y. - A steady flow of people came to the vigil on Lake Road this morning to pay their respects and celebrate the lives lost during an ambush on the West Webster Fire Department one year ago today.

Fellow firefighters, EMTs and community members stopped at the memorial, taking time on Christmas Eve to reflect on the tragedy.

But even through the tears, on this Christmas Eve it was a chance to celebrate.

I think last year it was more of a mourning, said Katelyn Thompson, a future EMT. And now it's more of a celebration of their life.
