Pope meets with predecessor

Vatican City - Pope Francis is preparing to preside over his first Christmas mass since becoming pontiff earlier this year.

The Vatican is expected to preview its Nativity scene and its Christmas tree in Saint Peters Square Tuesday before Christmas Eve mass.

The pope met with his predecessor, Emeritus Pope Benedict XVI, Monday to exchange Christmas gifts. Both prayed together at the Vatican.

It was only the second time the two have met since Benedicts retirement in February.
