Unemployment runs out for 1M Americans

Washington - Federal unemployment benefits end Saturday, Dec. 28 for more than one million jobless Americans.

The checks will stop arriving after a program signed into law back in 2008 expires Saturday.

An additional 850,000 workers will also lose state unemployment benefits over the next three months.

Congress extended or expanded the federal aid 11 times for the long-term jobless, but an extra lifeline was not included in the latest budget deal.
