Dawn Drexel speaks about remains found in Myrtle Beach

Myrtle Beach, S.C. -- Skeletal remains found in Myrtle Beach appear to be human.

That is leading some to speculate whether the remains could be those of missing Chili teen, Brittanee Drexel.

Police in Myrtle Beach say the remains appear to have been there for several years.

Investigators say there are several missing persons cases in the Myrtle Beach area right now.

13WHAM's ABC affiliate in Myrtle Beach spoke with Dawn Drexel, Brittanee's mother, after she got a call from a police officer about the remains.

"She has said they found skeletal remains," says Drexel. "It makes you hear, to me it kind of puts a pit in your stomach. Could this be it?"

Police are saying its unlikely that foul play was involved.
