Mayor Warren's head of security resigns

Rochester, N.Y. - Mayor Lovely Warren's uncle and the city's Director of Executive Services has resigned.

The City of Rochester announced Reggie Hill's resignation via email Friday afternoon just after 4:30.

"I want to be very clear that this is a decision that Mr. Hill has come to on his own. He told me personally he no longer wants to be a distraction from the important work that Mayor Warren was elected to do," said Chris Christopher, Director of Communications. "There has never been any question about Mr. Hill's unique qualifications for the position, or the need for his services. The only issues raised have been about process, and we are very confident that all the appropriate procedures were followed in consultation with the Department of Human Resource Management."

This comes just several weeks after Hill caught criticism for being pulled over twice by NYS Police during Warren's trip to Albany for Gov. Cuomo's State of the State address.

Hill was not ticketed either time but was reprimanded by City Hall.

This news is seen as a positive by fellow democrats.

I think that this is the right decision for him to make and I think this is the right decision for the mayor, said Joe Morelle, Chairman of the Monroe County Democratic Party. Shes on track; I think shes in Washington this week, talking to the President about an urban agenda. I believe shell be in Albany next week testifying in front of the budget committee. So shes doing the work of the city and theres no reason this should have been a distraction, so its good this is behind us and shes able to focus on the important things for the taxpayers.
