When your doctor is behind bars

Rochester, N.Y. What do you do if your doctor is behind bars? Thats the question some patients are asking after the arrest of Dr. William Lewek last week.

The Psychiatrist lived at 27 Rowley Street in the city of Rochester and saw patients at his home.

Police discovered the body of a missing man in Leweks backyard. They also claim to have found cocaine in his home.

The Monroe County Medical Society is now helping Leweks patients find other Psychiatrists for treatment.

But its up to the Department of Health to decide whether Lewek can see patients if he bails out of jail.

They will be the ones to decide if and when a license gets pulled, said Nancy Adams with the Monroe County Medical Society. For how long, is it revoked permanently? Is it suspended temporarily? All those things, thats up to the Department of Health.

Lewek remains in jail Wednesday night and has pled not guilty to tampering with evidence charges and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance charges.
