Driver killed in Niagara Co. crash

Hartland, N.Y. (AP) -- Police said a one-car crash on Niagara County road has claimed the life of the person driving the vehicle.
 
The Niagara County Sheriff's Office said emergency dispatchers received a 911 call around 10 p.m. Tuesday reporting an accident in the rural town of Hartland, 30 miles northeast of Buffalo.
 
Deputies said the vehicle was traveling east on Ridge Road when it went off the south shoulder and hit a tree in a front yard before coming to a rest.
 
The driver was taken to Eastern Niagara Hospital in Lockport and was pronounced dead shortly after.
 
The driver's name is being withheld pending the notification of family.

The cause of the crash is being investigated.
