Neighbors react to Rowley St. investigation

Rochester, N.Y. - Neighbors who live near Rowley St are reacting to the police investigation that is taking place just steps away from their homes.

Rochester police said Thursday they found human remains behind 27 Rowley St.

"It's so close to home," said Latanjia Pittman. "I mean you can't even be walking in the neighborhood and know that things are happening like this. It's crazy."

Residents nearby say they're surprised because they describe their neighborhood as "good" and "quiet."

"It's been a wonderful neighborhood," said Vic who has lived on Rowley St for more than 30 years.  "A great neighborhood to walk around, good neighbors and quiet."

13WHAM spoke with other neighbors who say they moved to the area because it's known for being a safe place to take walks. Jodi Campbell, who lives a block away, likes taking her dog for walks and says she is considering a move.

She said, "It makes me feel like maybe I should look to move into the suburbs."

At this point, neighbors say they have many questions about what happened and hope the investigation will be able to give them some answers.

"This is a good neighborhood so I wouldn't even expect anything like that to happen here, but you never know," said Pittman.
