Legion Post helps visiting military wife in need

Webster, N.Y. -- A military wife in need could be headed home Monday, thanks to a local American Legion Post.

The woman, traveling from Tennessee with her four kids, had car trouble this weekend and stopped at Bensons Service on Scottsville Road in Chili.

The only problem -- she couldnt afford the estimated repair costs.

Bensons service manager found out the womans husband is deployed in Afghanistan, so he took the bill to American Legion Post 942 in Webster.

The post offered to cover the cost of the repairs, and Benson hopes to have the parts in stock by Monday so the family can return home soon.

I know how stressful things can be, said Post Commander Greg Cody. Typically these are the situations -- the wives are left home with the kids. Thats a tough situation, when your husband or wife is gone for what could be six months at a time.
