'One-ring' scam targeting cell phones

Arlington, Va. The Better Business Bureau has warned about a new scam targeting cell phone users.

The BBB said scammers send out thousands of calls to random cell phone numbers across the country, letting the phones ring just once before they cut out.

If you call back, your call will go to a premium rate number that connects you to anything from advertising to music. The longer you stay on the line, the more you are charged.

If youve been affected by the scam, contact your cell phone provider. If you get a call from a number you do not recognize, refrain from calling back.
