New Tops Store opens in Henrietta
by Jennifer Lee
Henrietta, N.Y. - The grocery store Tops opened a new store at the Frontier Commons Plaza Wednesday.
Tops executives say they invested $5 million into the new store, and hope to provide customers with a more upscale shopping experience.
Our stores were in need of an upgrade, said Frank Curci, Tops president and CEO. Were in the middle of doing that, and this store is the latest example of that. Customers will find a nice, easy shopping experience with everything they could ever want in a store today.
From an expanded produce selection to big savings at the pump with a gas station on site, customers told 13WHAM they liked what they saw.
Rush Resident Bernadette Tuttle said, Its cleaner, prettier and newer. Ive always shopped at Tops, because I like tops. I think they have good values.
This opening comes just after the grocery store Harts announced theyll be opening a store in Downtown Rochester.
13WHAM also asked Tops about potential plans to expand. They said there are currently no firm plans to open a store downtown, but they are looking.
We really think downtown has come a long way, and its getting close, said Curci. We have our eyes on it, and wed like to be in a store down there.
Also, no word yet on what the old Tops on Jefferson Road will become, but the Henrietta Town Supervisor hopes it will be filled soon.
They pay a lot of taxes there, said Jack Moore, Henrietta Town Supervisor. That plaza actually is in receivership, and I understand, possibly, it has been sold, and theyll have a new landlord there, and well move forward and fill the space.
The gas station at the new Tops Store is not yet open, but the store says the pumps will be ready to go by the end of this month.
