Thruway closure strands truckers

Henrietta, N.Y. -- The closure of the New York State Thruway from Henrietta to Pennsylvania line created many problems for truck drivers Tuesday.

I had to run Route 31 because the Thruway was closed, said Aaron Bradley, a diesel truck delivery driver who drove from Canada to Farmington. I had to cross the Lewiston-Queenston Bridge. Normally Id cross the Peace Bridge, so basically I had to go around it.

He was among the lucky drivers.

People Ive dealt with, mainly frustrated, frustrated and cold, basically, said John Miller, who spent all day jump-starting trucks for Mr. Bults, Inc.

Road closures were put in effect at 2:30 p.m.

Wind has been the driving force for the storm, wind that is expected to begin to die down for morning rush hour, according to Chief Meteorologist Glenn Johnson.
