Snowmobiler Killed in Cayuga County

Locke, N.Y. - The Cayuga County Sheriff's Department says a snowmobile driver killed in an accident with a farm tractor earlier this month was legally intoxicated with a BAC of .11 at the time of the collision.

Frederick Kussin III, 55, of Dutchess County was killed when his snowmobile collided with a farm tractor on Cloverleaf Drive on January 4th.

Kussin was taken to Cortland Memorial Hospital but died on arrival.

The tractor operator, James Ball, 58, was not injured.

The investigation by the Sheriff's Department reveals that Ball had just exited a field and parked his tractor and manure spreader which blocked the roadway.

Deputies say Ball got off the tractor and was closing a gate when Kussin came along and struck the tractor.

Ball was issued two traffic law tickets.
