Super Bowl ticket prices go down

East Rutherford, N.J. -- Although Super Bowl security is increasing this year, ticket prices are decreasing.

The average price for a Super Bowl ticket the week before kickoff plummeted 40 percent to around $2,056.

That's cheaper than most of the Super Bowl tickets in years past, according to online broker SeatGeek.

Many of them seem to say they're waiting for prices to fall, even a little bit more can I get a ticket for $1,000 in the upper deck, can I get a ticket for $1,500 in the mezzanine level? said Will Flaherty, SeatGeek's director of communications. Even millionaires are discerning consumers, and I think they are kind of biding their time and waiting to see if prices will go down. And they certainly have.

Weather is one big reason for the drop in demand. Lots of fans choose to watch at home instead of braving freezing temps at an outdoor stadium.
